Religious and Moral Education
The school has no religious affiliations. Our aim is to promote an awareness of religious and moral issues. We follow the Powys Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education as part of the compulsory basic curriculum for all pupils.
We believe that the topics studied are relevant and interesting. Topics at KS3 include Inspirational people, Exploring Ultimate Questions, Science and Religion, Evil and Suffering, and Special Places. At KS4 ethical issues include Peace and Conflict, Matters of Life and Death, Human Rights and Capital Punishment. All are explored from a religious and non religious viewpoint. The wishes of parents who want their children to be excluded on religious or sectarian grounds are of course respected.
At Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11) pupils are accredited through the GCSE short course in RE. As a compulsory part of the basic curriculum this does not reduce the options available to any pupil.
