At Llanfyllin we firmly believe in educating the body as well as the mind. The school aims to introduce all students to a broad and balanced programme of sporting activities but in so doing attain high standards of achievement, knowledge, understanding and enjoyment which will encourage them to participate in school and as adults in the future.
The school is fortunate in that it has use of the Community Leisure Centre throughout the day including the swimming pool. This consists of a fully equipped gymnasium, a fitness room, 2 squash courts and an indoor swimming pool. Outside we have a range of courts and pitches in addition to our MUGA (Multi Use Games Area).
Pupils engage in a wide variety of sports; apart from the basic Soccer, Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, Netball and Athletics, there is Basketball, Gymnastics, Cross Country Running and Swimming. Inter-School fixtures are held in most of these sports, and pupils are included in District, County and National teams.
Our Community Sports Officer works closely with us to provide additional activities at lunchtime and after school. You don’t have to be a champion athlete, just active, healthy and happy to join in!
